Over the course of my speaking career, I’ve been asked to do everything from 15-minute Keynote presentations, to 3-hour long training sessions, to host an entire 3-day event, and I must say, it’s one of my favourite and most effective ways to add value.

Coaching one person is outstandingly rewarding, and I enjoy every session. At the same time, leaving a significant positive impact on 500 people with 1 speech and then getting dozens of “Thank you!” emails and messages is a totally different experience.

Leadership & Management

The management world has changed in the past couple decades to a point where it’s almost unrecognizable from the old school, check-in, work 8 hours, meet your quota, and check-out. We have started to search for joy and meaning not only outside of work, but at work as well.

Before, most people would be grateful they even have a job, and wouldn’t do anything or speak up in fear of losing it. Though that still happens sometimes today, in most cases people, vocally or silently, are constantly looking for outstanding leadership and management.

They’re looking for a place to belong. They want to do work in an environment they love. And they want to proudly speak about their work to their friends. This is the only way we will be able to attract and keep the best talent on the market.

Taking Complete Ownership

No more excuses, no more complaining, no more missed deadlines without any warning. Most people truly intend to do the best they possibly can. I really believe that. However, many times we’re overwhelmed or otherwise not performing at our best, but the work never stops, so we fail to deliver.

But of course we don’t want to admit we failed. That’s scary. I will get schooled, I will disappoint my team, or worst case, too many failures and I’ll lose my job. It’s much easier to blame. Our colleagues, our tools, our context. Anything but ourselves.

But the truth is, we can either find excuses and blame, or find solutions. We can’t do both, and it’s about time we all learn to accept ourselves for who we are, and with this new found clarity and honesty, we can now make calculated, measurable improvements week after week.

Conflict Management

Almost all conflict spawns from one or more of our fundamental human needs not being met. However, almost no one knows how to pinpoint and correctly deal with those needs. Some of us naturally sense them, and manage to deal better with others, but for most of us, we’re left wondering “why won’t they understand my point of view!?”

No longer. There is a science behind how people think, what they need, and how they make decisions. Once we learn exactly what makes us tick, we will much better understand both ourselves and those around us, leading to much better communication, collaboration, and progress.

Productivity & Time Management

Almost every one of us wants 30 hours in a day, so we can actually get done everything that’s on our plate. But it’s not the time that’s the issue, and it’s not the quantity of work either. Time will always tick away at the same speed, and there will always be more work to do than there is time in the day.

Yet, some people seem to get more done in 1 day than others get done in 3 days. How do they do it? What do they do that’s so different they can achieve in one year what others can in 2-3 years? And then go on to achieve in 10 years what others do during their entire career? Well, that’s exactly what you will find out.

It’s amazing what a bit of logic and a lot of genuine care for the other person(s) creates. We tend to be so laser focused on what we want, what our goals are, me, me, me, that in most cases we fail to truly understand the person(s) we’re speaking with.

Yet, that understanding–that knowledge of what does the other person want, what’s most important for them, and why are they pursuing this specific goal–is the exact ounce of knowledge that allows outstanding negotiators to design true win-win situations, where both sides feel amazing about the deal that just closed or the decision that was just made.
